If you’re concerned about the privacy of your cellphone number, especially when it comes to telemarketers - there’s some good news.  A new bill is in the works aimed at protecting your privacy.

The Consumer Cellphone Number Distribution Protection Act of 2007 - Amends the federal criminal code to impose a fine and/or prison term of up to six months for knowingly disclosing a wireless subscriber’s unlisted cell phone number to another, for gain, without the express permission of such subscriber.

This bill is in the first step in the legislative process. Introduced bills go first to committees that deliberate, investigate, and revise them before they go to general debate.
